Free web scraper for Chrome: click a list, get a spreadsheet
LucidRows is a free web scraper for Chrome, and it is also a data scraper for the lists you already have open. You name a column, click one item, and LucidRows finds that same field on every matching card or row. A CSV is a plain file that opens in Excel. Nothing you collect is uploaded.
What LucidRows does
This web scraper extension stays inside the page you are looking at. You pick the fields yourself. LucidRows does not guess a whole table for you, and it does not read a PDF. After the preview looks right, you export CSV, Excel (.xlsx) or JSON on your computer.
The short demo below is the only video on this page. It shows a real pick, a preview, and an export. For the written steps, keep reading, or open the full LucidRows guide.
Who uses it
People use this chrome web scraper when a page is a repeating list and copying by hand would take all afternoon. The same clicks cover a few everyday jobs.
- Lead lists from directories, when each card repeats a name and a detail you want in a column.
- Product or property cards, when you want the title and other visible fields lined up for a later compare.
- Research results that continue across many pages, when page one is only the start.
You still choose every column. LucidRows only repeats the field you clicked, on the sibling cards or rows in that list.
How it works in 4 steps
-
Open the page
Install LucidRows, pin it, and open the list you want. Click the LucidRows icon, then Start picking.
-
Name a column and click one item
Type a column name, then click one field inside a card or one cell in a table. LucidRows outlines the similar fields and fills the preview.
-
Add more columns
Name the next column and click the next field. You can rename a column, remove it, reorder columns, or edit a cell before you export. Broader and Narrower move the pick up or down the card when the first click was too wide or too narrow. An image column saves the image URL.
-
Export
Export CSV, Excel (.xlsx) or JSON. The file matches the preview. CSV is a plain file that opens in Excel, and the download starts with a mark so accents and symbols stay readable. You can also save a recipe on this computer and run it again later. No account is required.
The full walkthrough covers install, preview edits, and export in more detail.
Works on lists, cards and multi-page results
A list of cards and an HTML table use the same idea. On a table, click one cell. LucidRows treats each body row as an item and skips the header. It does not auto-detect the table, and it does not export every column from one click.
If the rows are cards rather than a grid, read how to scrape a table to Excel (.xlsx). If the list continues on later pages, or behind a Load More button, read how to scrape multiple pages.
Private by design
LucidRows runs in your browser. There is no account. Recipes stay in Chrome storage on this computer. Scraped rows are not uploaded. The only network reads during a walk are the next pages of the same site, so the list can grow. See what stays on your device.
What it does not do
This web scraper free of an account is still a manual tool. You select each field. There is no AI mode where you describe what you want and the page is scraped for you. It does not log in for you, solve a CAPTCHA, or use a proxy. It does not schedule a cloud run. It works on web pages, not on PDF files.
FAQ
- Do I need an account?
- No. LucidRows works without sign-up. Recipes and the rows you collect stay on your device.
- Does it work on any site?
- It works on web pages you can open in Chrome, when you can click the repeating field yourself. It does not claim to work on every site, and it does not open PDF files.
- Is my data uploaded?
- No. Scraped rows stay on your computer. A walk only loads the next page of the same site so more rows can be merged.
- Can I open the file in Excel or Google Sheets?
- Yes. Open Export and choose CSV, Excel (.xlsx) or JSON. CSV and the .xlsx file both open in Excel or Google Sheets. JSON is there when you want the preview as data.
Use it responsibly. Keep a reasonable pace, and follow each site’s terms. The LucidRows terms explain what you agree to when you use the extension.
